Dr. Mehra is Chicago's leading fetal surgery specialist. He is board certified in maternal fetal medicine, ob/gyn, and family medicine.
Over the last twenty years, Dr. Mehra has worked diligently to raise the standard of care for high risk pregnancies, bringing together compassion, continuity of care, and cutting-edge technology to ensure each and every family is cared for from start to finish, with the best possible clinical approach.
While Dr. Mehra is always happy to collaborate with colleagues, he is one of few Maternal Fetal Medicine surgeons qualified to handle every aspect of care for mother and baby, including diagnosis, management, surgical intervention for both mother and baby, and post partum care.
Having been a practicing OB/GYN and fetal surgery for over 20 years, and a father of two children, Dr. Mehra understands that mothers and babies often need access to their care providers outside of traditional clinic hours; as such, he prides himself on providing direct provider accessibility to his patients, giving families peace of mind knowing they have one physician overseeing every aspect of care.
His areas of expertise include fetal surgery, medical transplacental therapy, and fetal blood sampling. He also enjoys working with mothers of multiples, as well as those with high risk pregnancies.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Mehra. He is truly amazing. He delivered my first baby 4 1/2 years ago when my water broke early at 27 weeks, so I didn't hesitate this time around asking him to be my MFM doctor for my second pregnancy. He is VERY patient and trustworthy. I tend to ask many questions and he always took the time to answer every one. He is one of those doctors that you just know you can trust. Very intelligent and you can tell he cares about his patients. He was also very reassuring when I needed it. He managed to get me to full term for this second pregnancy and I couldn't be more grateful. I would absolutely recommend him without a doubt.

Being referred to Dr. Mehra has been by far one of the biggest blessings to me in my pregnancy with twins. I’m so glad I chose him over traveling to a different state for a minimally invasive procedure. I would not have wanted to be in any body else’s care, but his. Dr. Mehra is the best doctor I've ever seen in my life. He saw me through my high-risk mono-di twin pregnancy and delivered our boys over a year ago. He is extremely knowledgable, is one of the most skilled surgeons in the Midwest if (God forbid) you need fetal surgery, and he truly listens to the patient and asks important follow-up questions rather than rushing through the appointment or jumping to most obvious/likely conclusion. He follows up with his patients personally, sometimes calling them at home on the weekend to check in. He is uncommonly kind, in a way that stays with you for years and years. I don't think my husband and I will ever forget him. If you get referred to Dr. Mehra, I know it can be scary to think your baby and you need a higher level of care than your average pregnancy requires, but please know that you are in the most capable and genuinely caring hands possible.

This doctor is an amazing and VERY knowledgable doctor. He took care of my twin pregnancy through many many problems and close calls, including pre-term labor, incompetent cervix. So many times I thought I would lose my precious babies, but I believe through this man’s prevention and very thorough exams and appointments he saved my babies from being born too early. After two weeks in the hospital, and an additional 3 day visit, and four months on bed rest, my two girls were born full term. Although he never promised they would make it or even that far, he remained hopeful and fought hard to keep me from giving birth too soon. I would definitely recommend him to everyone.
